At the January membership
meeting we presented over $6000 to each of our charities from
our 2007
fundraising activities. The charities were very grateful for
our support and help over the years.
For 2008 we have selected the same charities to support –
Advocates for Homeless Families, Community Action Agency,
Heartly House, Hope Alive, Hospice of Frederick County and
Mental Health Association of Frederick County. We also we be
working with Religious Coalition in the sponsorship of 2
families next holiday season.
Our next
project will be providing care packages to our local servicemen
and women serving aboard. We will collect items and monetary
contributions
for shipping during the month of March. Please contact the FCAR
office if you know of any local service personnel that could use
a care package.
The Green
Turtle in downtown Frederick (located on Carroll Creek) will be
holding a fundraiser for Community Service on Tuesday, March 11th
from 11:00 am to closing. They will donate 10% of the day’s
proceeds to our charities. This includes dine-in and carry-out
orders. Make sure to mention FCAR or bring one of the flyers
found at the association office. Stop in for food and fun and
support our local charities.
Want the chance

community while having fun? Community Service meets at 11:30 am
on the 1st Wednesday of every month at FCAR. Hope to
