About FCAR
FCAR Mission Statement
The mission of the Frederick County Association of REALTORS® is to support and enhance its members’ professional objectives and adherence to the Code of Ethics. The Association will achieve its mission by providing quality education for members, promoting professional and ethical behavior, and fostering a positive image within our community. As we look to the future, we look forward to setting goals to assist our members, affiliates, other REALTORS®, and the communities we serve.
FCAR is committed to our community and we strive to promote the role of REALTORS® to the public. Our members work with legislators to be involved in the political process and protecting property rights. FCAR works closely with Maryland REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® to achieve these goals.
FCAR Membership Benefits at a Glance
FCAR works diligently to provide quality services to our membership. We offer timely and informative continuing education classes that help REALTORS® expand their knowledge and stay up to date on current laws. We offer classes throughout the year. We also offer professional designation programs such as the Graduate REALTOR® Institute and Certified Residential Specialist. All courses are offered to members and non-members. In addition to an outstanding educational program, FCAR offers its members a weekly newsletter that is filled with association information, helpful tips, reminders, and other pertinent information. Our association holds monthly membership meetings on the first Thursday of the month and has many active committees on which association members serve. FCAR in the Community
FCAR members are actively involved in serving local communities, both through the association and on their own. Each year, FCAR's Community Service Committee members raise money, collect donations that benefit local Frederick County charities, and donate their time to serve.
The association's FCARe Fund is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Frederick County, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Since 2012, the FCAR has awarded more than $20,000 in grants to various non-profit organizations in Frederick County through this charitable fund. As a function of the FCARe Fund, our annual Charity Auction raises tens of thousands of dollars for local nonprofits. Annual Events
FCAR committees hold many events throughout the year that are designed to serve the community, improve community relations and support our members. Here are a few of the reoccurring events of which FCAR is a part: āā
The FCARe Charity Auction
The annual Charity Auction is an event facilitated by the FCAR Community Service Committee. FCAR members and members of the Frederick business community contribute auction items to raise money for a local cause chosen by the committee and approved by the board of directors.
ā
Trade Show
FCAR’s Annual Trade Show takes place in October at the Frederick Fairgrounds and is put on by the Membership Committee. This event is our way to thank our members for their participation in the association. The event is free to FCAR members and features a catered lunch, networking opportunities with community resources and affiliates, and lots of goodies from affiliate members.
Monthly Soup Kitchen Service Day
On the second Tuesday of each month, FCAR Community Service Committee members serve dinner to 80-100 Frederick County citizens at the Soup Kitchen, operated by Frederick’s Community Action Agency. Committee members spend two hours serving a hot meal to people in the community. After dinner, committee members help clean up. To learn more about sponsoring the Soup Kitchen, contact Community Service Committee member Susan Houck.
The FCAR Awards
The FCAR Awards ceremony highlights the best and brightest of our membership from the past calendar year.
Installation & Holiday Party
We end the year with the installation of our new board in a combination ceremony and holiday party.
