Charities: Who does this benefit?

This event benefits three Frederick County charities.

Blessings in a Backpack seeks to end childhood food insecurity by providing nutritious supplemental meals to students who might otherwise go without. COVID-19 has increased costs as well as created new obstacles to reaching children who are not in school or able to access public transportation. Your donations help alleviate these concerns. For more information about Blessings in a Backpack, view our October 28th FCAR newsletter, or visit their Facebook page here.

Frederick Soup Kitchen provides an evening meal every night to anyone who is hungry. Most of its patrons are homeless, but some are very low-income renters (including senior citizens) who come for a free meal in order to help make ends meet. Operated by the Frederick Community Action Agency, the Soup Kitchen has been in continuous operation since 1984.  For more information about the program, click here.

WFMD Christmas Cash for Kids uses donated funds to purchase gifts of toys and clothing for children in low-income households during the holidays. The program has been in operation for more than four decades and has evolved into the largest provider of such gifts for children who might otherwise go without. For more information about this effort, view our November 4th FCAR newsletter, or  click here.

Thanks to our Sponsors!

Title companies, mortgage companies, inspection services, and other affiliates are invited to join in the fun by becoming a sponsor of the event. A minimum $200 donation will ensure placement of your business logo on the final full-page advertisement to be printed in the Frederick News-Post (a $1,500 value). Many thanks to those affiliates who have already submitted their sponsorship!
