Our members love to give back, so we have made it even easier for them.

What is FCARe?

FCARe is an endowment fund supported by FCAR members and their fundraising efforts that gives to local nonprofit organizations to improve the lives of those in the communities where we serve.

Developed with the expertise of The Community Foundation of Frederick County, FCAR members can now make tax-deductible contributions to the FCARe Fund that benefit local nonprofits.

How to Support the Fund

Your sponsorship dollars will help our Platinum Jubliee Events raise thousands of dollars to support our FCARe fund. The grants presented from this fund go directly to help nonprofits in our community like Habitat for Humanity, Blessings in a Backpack, Terra Firma, Frederick Rescue Mission. Advocates for Homeless, Mission of Mercy, and many more. The greater the giving, the more we can give back!

More Ways to Give

You can impact our community for positive change by giving additional donations to FCARe in memoriam to honor a loved one, as part of your will, by organizing fundraising efforts or sponsoring matching funds for our fundraising efforts.

Here are a few examples of this new fund in action.

In Memory

This project is an effort by the Turner family to honor their 2-year-old son Simon who unexpectedly died two years ago. After reviewing a selection of project options, FCAR chose this project because it was not only a lovely tribute to Simon, but because it would also ensure that future generations of children experience joy on his behalf.

“It’s beautiful because this celebration we are having and we’re getting behind this project, which ties into the history of this area,” said Terry La Scola, FCAR Immediate Past President.

“People that would like to see this project come to fruition because the more positive feedback we can get from the most people ... the better,” said Brent Turner, Simon’s dad.

Restoration for Those Who Served

Last year's Charity Auction was held on Veterans' Day, and proceeds from the event went toward helping wounded U.S. military vets on their journey toward healing. A total of nearly $17,000 was raised.

We are proud to support the Lone Survivor Foundation, working with FCAR’s Bill Armstrong, to develop the Terra Firma Retreat Center.

Nestled in the woods of Weverton, West Virginia, the center will offer a peaceful space for U.S. military veterans and their families to navigate the difficult journey of PTSD and other chronic service-related injuries. To learn more about this exciting project, visit terrafirmaretreat.org.
